Maslan Said was born in Arau, Perlis in 1955.
He started creating art at the age of 12, and had his first exhibition in 1967. He was encouraged by both his parents and his school teachers. In the early stages, he used pastels, watercolors, oil paints, and charcoal to create portrait works.
His desire to create uniqueness led him to explore the technique of touchless painting, which he started using in 1996. He uses acrylic colors and canvas board for his works. Despite not having any formal art education, he is now proud to paint various portraits, including famous people from both inside and outside the country, using this technique. His fine, precise, amazing, and realistic art pieces are sold for tens of thousands of ringgit, as buyers are satisfied with his work. His average customers who place orders are amazed by his skillful touch, especially when they find out that he only uses a mixture of three basic colors (red, blue, and yellow). His blending skills are impressive to art lovers.
As the Royal Family Painter in Brunei, he paints portraits of the royal family members. In 1997 and 1999, he visited London and Paris to showcase his skills while getting a closer look at the works of world-renowned painters like Michelangelo, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, and Leonardo da Vinci. He also displayed his skills and learned about art during his travels to South Africa, Australia, India, Japan, Singapore, and Indonesia. His works have been exhibited in public places such as five-star hotels like the International Kuala Lumpur Hilton, Merdeka Palace Hotel in Kuching (Sarawak), Hotel Holiday Inn in Kuching (Sarawak), Hotel Equotorial – Melaka, Ramada Plaza in Melaka, and Hotel Seri Pacific – Kuala Lumpur.
